Overdraft Protection  linked to your Bank of America credit card, savings account  or second checking account , helps reduce your chances of declined transactions or inadvertently overdrawing your checking account. This can help you avoid unexpected overdraft fees on certain transactions. There's no cost to enroll. We only charge you when we transfer funds for you.

Effective June 27, 2011, when you write a check or make an electronic payment and you don't have enough money in your account for the transaction, you'll pay an overdraft fee regardless of the amount your account is overdrawn.

You will not pay an overdraft fee when you use your debit card to make everyday purchases and you don't have enough money in your account for the transaction. Instead, your purchase is declined and you don't pay a fee.
 
If you sign up for Overdraft Protection, we'll transfer available funds from your linked account and charge a $10 Overdraft Protection Transfer fee. This fee is charged at the end of the day and is typically less than an Overdraft Item fee, which is $35 for each item. Overdraft Protection Transfers, from your credit card, are considered Cash Advances and will accrue interest at the APR stated in your Credit Card Agreement.
